Description:

University physicists Leonard and Sheldon know whether to use an integral or a differential to solve the area under a curve. But they don’t have a clue about girls. Or dating. Or clothes. Or parties. Or having fun. Or, basically, life. So when a pretty blonde named Penny moves in the apartment across the hall, the guys decide to get an education outside of the classroom. Boys, you have a lot to learn. With series creators Chuck Lorre (Two and a Half Men) and Bill Prady (The Gilmore Girls) concocting the right mix of logic and lunacy and stars Johnny Galecki (Roseanne) and Jim Parsons (Judging Amy) turning geekdom into Phi Beta fun, The Big Bang Theory is big on laughs. And life.

5Which geek are you? Sheldon, Leonard, Raj, Howard ....Mar 17, 2010
When this series came out I watched the pilot episodes and laughed so hard that my housemate thought that there was something wrong with me. I could completely identify with every character in this sitcom and found a very synchronous connection between the characters, the living spaces and work environment and what I had experienced in my life in a former job. Sheldon's overt Asperger's Syndrome adds an element of humor that allows us to laugh at "smart" people without feeling uncomfortable and out of line. The timing, writing and character development is done very well on this show and it just continues to blossom from one season to the next.

If you are looking for a new, quirky sitcom that turns science on it's head at times .... you may find yourself enjoying "The Big Bang Theory" the way I did those first episodes. I remember laughing so hard I thought I was going to break a rib. The newness and very succinct humor really got me good. If you work in a science background and among scientists ... you will find humor in this great show.

I love it!

Couldn't find it in stores in my town, purchased it on-line last minute and did standard shipping, hoping it would come in by my husbands birthday and it did! In new condition, as advertised, no problems.

5Great comedy from a non-gamer, science teacher perspective.Mar 07, 2010
I am neither a male, a nerd, a game player, or a comic book collector and I think this is the best comedy on TV right now. I am a science teacher, so I appreciate the science commentary, but the character interaction is what I enjoy most. How can anyone not find Sheldon's social awkwardness, extreme OCD, and deadpan delivery of his lines hilarious? Howard's relationship with his mother and Raj, his choice of clothing, and his way of hitting on women are definitely funny. Raj's remarkable change from shy geek to charm personified when inebriated is sheer genius, and Leonard's attempts to balance a relationship between his friends and neighbor Penny is the defining thread. This show has some interesting situational comedy as well as some fantastic one-liners. As the show proceeds, and the audience finds out more about the familial backgrounds, the characters become even more remarkable. This show is unique, and as I've commented to my husband on several occasions, does require a certain level of intelligence to appreciate. Simply put, it's new, different and refreshing, but may not appeal to someone who doesn't pay close attention to the dialogue. The show has only gotten better in seasons 2 and 3 so I'd advise anyone to stick with it and give it a chance!
