Lovely adaption of the novelMar 17, 2010 I have seen both the 95' version with Firth and Ehle and this one with Keira and Matthew. I have to say that I liked the 2005 version much better. I just didn't feel the chemistry between Firth and Ehle. And they seem a lot older than the characters in the book. Colin Firth too I felt was too stiff faced and did not bring out the emotion or torment he felt. He keeps staring at Ehle like he wants to hit her.
I thought Matthew Macfayden was a real find in this movie. He really seemed to bring out all the range of emotions he felt. Keira knightly too was very good in her role.
The movie though I felt was short and had some scenes I would have liked to see cut out, was a wonderful adaptation of the novel itself.
The rain scene where Darcy proposes and the last scene where he comes at dawn to talk to Lizzie was spot on. I couldn't have asked for a better adaptation there.
On the whole if you have read the book this movie is a must see.

Great movie; wrong DVD for me!Mar 13, 2010 While I believe this version of Pride and Prejudice to be the finest ever made,I inadvertantly purchased the HD DVD which I soon learned would not play on my computer or any of my other players. I was unaware that HD would not play on a standard DVD player. I won't make that mistake again! Live and learn....
This version of the movie is far superior to any of the other productions. The producer, director, and the wonderful cast all went above and beyond what might have been expected of them! Jane Austin would have been proud!
I had seen this version of the movie more than once before I purchased it, and now that I have bought the standard DVD, I still find myself delighted every time I view it. I have recommended it to my friends. I give it my highest rating.

Crap compared to BBC version..Mar 10, 2010 I thought this was going to be even better than the BBC version (which I love) it was horrible!!!! I was speechless at the end .. and not in the good way! They left so many parts out and what was most annoying was the literally hated each other and the next minute they were madly in love ( I can only guess due to time constraints?) it was painful to watch. BBC's Pride & Prejudice with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle cannot be topped.

Don't waste your time!Mar 09, 2010 Everything about this adaptation was wrong, wrong, wrong!! But the worst part of it was the casting of Keira Knightley as Eliza Bennett! What were they thinking!? All Ms. Knightley could do in her role as Eliza was snarl, giggle or make herself so totally obnoxious that I couldn't watch the movie in its entirety. Elizabeth Bennett was a high-spirited, witty and warm LADY and Knightley's interpretation was anything but lady-like! Don't waste your time with this version of P&P - watch the Elizabeth Garvie/David Rintoul adaptation. It's true to the book and would've made Jane Austen proud.
