Horrible! Does terrible with darksAug 31, 2009 There are only three good things I can say about this system. 1: It has great base, 2: It has been pretty reliable, and 3: It is usually well priced. That's about it.
However, the picture on this unit sucks! It does OK with regular, normally lit scenes. However, if you're watching something that has a dark scene in it, the player automatically adjusts itself and dims WAY down to the point where you can barely see the image! Don't even try watching The Dark Knight or Watchmen on this thing. You'll just be pissed off the whole time. The only way to get around this feature, from what I can tell, is to brighten the screen to the point where almost everything has a blue tint to it because it's brighter than it should be and too over-adjusted. The player is very slow to load and slow to eject. Because it has such strong base, it overpowers the dialogue. I have to adjust the sound on almost everything I watch (and sound adjustment is very limited on this unit). Diagonal lines have recently appeared on the screen. I have sent the unit out for repairs through the retailer (I had an extended warranty) but I doubt they'll take care of most of these issues.
PASS ON THIS P.O.S.!!
It is what it is, and it's greatJul 31, 2009 - I bought it as a sound system. It's great, it has 5 speakers and a sub-woofer.
- It's not very responsive when you ask it to do things, but it's no big deal.
- USB port on the front, I play music off of a USB flash drive.
great soundJan 23, 2009 Simple to set up and a simply wonderful sound. I couldn't be happier because I did it myself.

Skip thisJan 11, 2009 If you like slow motion, Am radio, or rapid repeat of select scenes, do not buy this. It has a lousy assortment of features. as in it is a no-frills version of a real DVD player. No more of this brand will I buy. Poor buy for the money.
