Excellent Unit - Low price and great performanceMar 13, 2010 I am using this reciever with an IPAQ 111 Handheld PC.
The receiver quickly acquires a fix of GPS satellites "in view."
My aim in buying BT-359 and the IPAQ was to get a GPS experience like units sold everywhere (in various price ranges), but to also have the many capabilities of a handheld PC. A smartphone was an alternative to this set up, but would have cost an extra $360 per year.
The experience you will have with any GPS receiver and its usefullness to you will depend on the software it interfaces with. I spent a lot of time searching for handheld PC GPS software (my wife will say the same). Bought one and was disappointed that it required routing on a PC to ensure required maps were loaded to create a continuous route. Performance was poor and routes were shown in 2D.
A mapping software I've been very happy with is CoPilot Live 8. This software "found" my GPS receiver automatically without having first to "pair" the device with my IPAQ. This software, with this hardware, provides what I wanted in the first place, a GPS reciever that can create a route from my house in MD to the San Diego (CA) Zoo (done just as an experiment) and that will provide spoken turn by turn directions (US man or UK woman) while displaying the route in 3D.
The BT-359 performs flawlessly and is compact. The price of this rather incredible technology is very low as well. I recommend this hardware.
GPS to goMar 11, 2010 I purchased this to work with my mobile phone, a Nokia 3720, which has maps on board but no GPS receiver. It works superbly & cold boots in under a minute. I'm very pleased with it!
A simple useful reliable deviceFeb 15, 2010 I acquired this device for use with my cell phone as a GPS system. I've been successfully using it during my vacations, without any problem. It is small, reliable, not very fast for boot up but reasonable. The battery lasts for enough time to be useful the whole day. A very high value for the money.
GreatJan 31, 2010 I was able to set it up using my netbook and MS trips and streets with no problem.

Incredible bang for your buckJan 21, 2010 I used this GPS receiver in conjunction with my HP Mini 1000 and Microsoft Streets & Trips when I went on vacation. It worked like a dream. I set the receiver in my coin holder tray (almost under my dashboard) and it never lost signal (except when I went through a tunnel). Connecting was simple and straightforward.
I only have one general recommendation for Streets & Trips users - Buy the most recent version! Otherwise, you may run through some areas that the program isn't expecting. Yes, this is the voice of experience (I know you were wondering!).
